Tournament history

     Here already more than 30 years in Kharkov pass tournament on badminton which first was one of selection stages in a national team of the USSR. Since 1984 it is tournament has been transformed to youthful tournament which by tradition in the end of summer collected leading young sportsmen of the USSR. Here known badminton players of the former USSR were typed S.Melnikov's experience, sister Jakushevy, M.Andrievskaja, V.Druzhchenko, V.Streltsov, N.Zuev, E.Nozdran, L.Griga and many other things.

     Since 1997 after the termination of youthful tournament, tournament Kharkov International is held. For years of existence of this tournament in it took part, except all leading Ukrainian badminton players, players from Belarus, Czech, Belgium, Israel, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Russia.

     Till 1999 tournaments were spent in a sports complex «KIROVEC», the subsequent tournaments, up to 2004, spent in sports complex KhTU «KhPI».

     Winners of our tournament became: N.Zuev, A.Hachaturjan, V.Druzhchenko, D.Zavadsky, A.Ashmarin, E.Nozdran, М.Yakyweva, N.Esipenko, E.Chernjavskaja, N.Golovkina, E.Prus and others.

     Under the offer of the governor of the Kharkov area of A.Avakova, tournament of 2009 will be spent from September, 10 till September, 13th in the best Kharkov sports construction the Palace of Sports "Locomotive".

     All these years in tournament carrying out the most active participation are accepted by regional state administration and the mayoralty of our city. Also we constantly feel help OTP BANK, firms: the RADAR, PromDesign, Specvuzavtomatiki and others.

     The city Kharkov - one of the largest cities of Ukraine. All years and now it is the industrial, scientific and cultural centre of Ukraine.
